At the Marina Baixa Veterinary Hospital we have an emergency service 24 hours a day, a home patient collection service (PARAVET) and several independent hospitalization rooms: A surgical patient room, an internal medicine room for dogs and another for cats and exotic animals and a room for infectious. We have an intensive care unit for critical patients. Hospitalized patients are permanently monitored by veterinarians day and night (24 hours). Dr. Nuno Paixao, specialist in medicine and emergency surgery, professor at the University of Guelph (Canada) annually visits our center to supervise the service and instruct to veterinarians and auxiliaries.

The Marina Baixa Veterinary Hospital has a blood bank with availability of fresh whole blood, packed red blood cells and frozen plasma both from dogs and cats.

Veterinary blood bank Indications: Aplastic anemia, Anemia with coagulopathy, Anemia with hypoproteinemia, Anemia with hypovolaemia, Hemolytic anemia, Hypoplastic Anemia, Regenerative Anemia, Chronic Renal Anemia, DIC, Massive Hemorrhage, Neonatal Isoerythrolysis, Pancitophenia, Hepatic Disease with Anemia, Disease of Vom Willebrand (Fresh Whole Blood only), Hemophilia A, Hemophilia factor IX, Anticoagulant toxicity.

In our Hospital we have the Peritoneal Dialysis service for kidney failure.
